KLAUS DEWALD

Born in 1965 in Germany. His adoptive father’s family members were recognized as Righteous Among the Nations for saving the lives of many Jews in Nazi Germany during WWII.

GLOBAL AID NETWORK (GAIN)

Klaus Dewald is the Founder and Chairman of the Global Relief Network (GAiN). For over 30 years, GAiN has been helping those in need, delivering more than 2,000 containers with over 80,000 MT of aid to more than 50 countries worldwide.

In 2007, the question arose whether GAiN Germany should play a role in Israel. In the process, Klaus Dewald learned about the often bleak situation of the Holocaust survivors in the country. He realized that facing their need would involve more than humanitarian aid. As a German, in particular, he had the unique opportunity to help the victims of the Holocaust find forgiveness and inner peace through encounters and conversations. He joined Israeli initiatives to form the “Helping Hand Coalition.”

Today, GAiN provides humanitarian aid to Israel, Latvia, Ukraine, North Korea, Armenia, Uganda, Nigeria, Poland, Hungary, Romania, and other countries. The organization sends its trucks and containers filled with clothing, baby food, hygiene materials, toys, hospital equipment, etc. On the road, it supports those in need through sponsorship programs and invests in holistic development projects such as in Uganda and Haiti. GAiN has three goals: Helping people in need (holistic, life-changing approaches and disaster response),  transporting relief supplies (creating a worldwide logistics network), and involving people (God’s love is felt when people give and help others).

ISRAEL

In 2011, Klaus Dewald received the “Certificate of Honor” from the Knesset in Israel “for his outstanding help and support to Holocaust survivors and Israel.” It was the first time Israel officially thanked and honored Christian ministries like GAiN and others. It said, “We regard this as a sincere sign of friendship between our nations.”

AWARDS

BOOK

A man. One life. A Commission: With God to the Most Dangerous and Poorest Countries in the World Hardcover.

In 1990, Klaus Dewald was so moved by the hardship of Russia’s famine winter that he organized and drove the transport of aid supplies himself. Spontaneous truck trips grew into GAiN, a globally networked aid organization that brings people hope. In his book “One Man. One Life. One Mission,” he tells how this became his life’s calling. He reports on incomprehensible miracles amid suffering and fear and profoundly moving encounters with people worldwide.
