International Holocaust Remembrance Day was marked by a distinguished and impressive ceremony in Hadera, attended by hundreds of survivors of the Holocaust along with the mayor of Hadera, Nir Ben Haim.

Helping Hand Coalition, who helps thousands of survivors of the Holocaust, organized the event to mark this remembrance day and continues its extensive cultural activities, preserving the memory of the Holocaust and distributing groceries to survivors with a total value of over 10 million shekels.

On Monday, January 27, 2020, an important and honorable event was commemorated in Moffat Hall on HaNassi Street in Hadera to mark International Holocaust Remembrance Day and the 75th anniversary of the siege of Leningrad and the liberation of the Auschwitz extermination camp. The event was initiated by Helping Hand Coalition and was attended by hundreds of survivors of the Holocaust, brought on buses from the north, as well as volunteers from the organization. The guest of honor and leading supporter of the event was the mayor of Hadera, Mr.Nir Ben Haim, who spoke at the ceremony and stressed the importance of remembering this event and helping the survivors of the Holocaust living amongst us in any way possible.

Helping Hand Coalition said that beginning on International Holocaust Remembrance Day, it intends to distribute, through its volunteers, consumer goods, food baskets, gifts, and shopping notes worth more than 10 million shekels to distributed more than 15,000 survivors registered in the organization throughout the year! The organization said volunteers and activists helped veteran survivors of the Holocaust throughout the country throughout the year.

On Remembrance Day, hundreds of survivors of the Holocaust from all over the country were brought to the event in Hadera. The following day, twenty survivors from Haifa were brought to HHC’s Caesarea Villa for a Shalom House event, where they enjoyed a special meal, a musical performance, and shared a testimony of their lives during the war. The same week, Yad Vashem organized Israel cultural events and hot meals to mark this remembrance day. Active projects are also being run; such as medical assistance, the Shalom House Project in Caesarea, eye clinics, crutches and wheelchair distribution, food vouchers, clothing, shoes, and furniture donations, tours and other cultural events, and assistance to the survivors of the Holocaust and World War II veterans.

The association reported that in 2019 survivors of the Holocaust in Israel were distributed half a million food coupons, 7,000 pairs of eyewear and reading across the country, and 3,000 walkers, wheelchairs and auxiliary equipment. Over the next two months, thousands of eyewear and hundreds of blood pressure machines will be distributed to a team of experts from abroad.

Luke Gasiorowski, director of Helping Hand Coalition for Israel, said that more than 150,000 survivors of the Holocaust now live in Israel, a quarter of them living below the poverty line. Helping Hand Coalition mostly supports this population, who came from Eastern European countries, by improving their quality of life and welfare as much as they can, along with assisting with their basic needs and helping them learn about their rights. Luke Gasiorowski said that today, 75 years after the war ended, the average age of the survivors is 83 years old.

Chairman and co-founder of Helping Hand Coalition, Andre Gasiorowski, said that as part of the Holocaust commemoration initiative, the film IZAK will be distributed and screened across the country and in 180 countries around the world. The film recounts the life story of Holocaust survivor Izak Goldfinger, who was born in Novi Sanz, Poland, and was 14 years old when he was captured in 1939. For six years and 11 labor camps, including Auschwitz, Izak was imprisoned. He survived and wore his tattoo, numbered 161145, which amounts to the number 18, meaning “life” in Hebrew, until the day he passed away in 2014. The tattoo became the organization’s logo, and Izak was titled as the honorary president of the organization when it was established in 2007.

Helping Hand Coalition is an organization that is working to assist survivors of the Holocaust across the country through a variety of actions and measures. The organization’s operations allow survivors to enjoy hot meals, social gatherings, food distribution and coupons, documenting survivors’ memorials, initiating a bar mitzvah celebration for survivors of the Holocaust who did not celebrate it as a child, assisting and participating in a life parade, and “Individual Assistance Project” in the northern region, along with dozens of other projects.

Recently, the association decided to unveil its activities to enable more survivors of the Holocaust living across the country to enjoy its diverse services and to improve the quality of life of the survivors of their older age in their area of ​​residence throughout the country.

ארגון יד לעזרה ישראל, המטפל באלפי ניצולי שואה, ארגן את האירוע לציון יום השואה וממשיך בפעילות תרבותית ענפה, בשימור זיכרון השואה ובחלוקת מצרכים לניצולים בשווי כולל של למעלה מ- 10 מיליון ₪.

ביום שני, 27 בינואר 2020 צוין באולם מופת ברחוב ההסתדרות בחדרה אירוע מרשים ומכובד לציון יום השואה הבינלאומי ו- 75 למצור על לנינגרד ושחרור מחנה הריכוז אוושוויץ. את האירוע יזם ארגון יד לעזרה ישראל והשתתפ בו מאות ניצולי שואה שהובאו באוטובוסים מרחבי הצפון והאזור וכן עשרות מתנדבים של הארגון. אורח הכבוד והתומך המרכזי של האירוע היה כבוד ראש עירית חדרה, מר ניר בן חיים, שנאם בטקס ועמד על חשיבות ציון האירוע ובמיוחד החשיבות לסייע בכל דרך ובכל אמצעי לניצולי השואה החיים עימנו.

ארגון “יד לעזרה ישראל” מסר כי לרגל יום הזיכרון הבינלאומי לשואה בכוונו לחלק באמצעות מתנדביו במהלך השנה מוצרי צריכה, סלי מזון, מתנות ותווי קניה בשווי של למעלה מ – 10 מיליון ₪ שיחולקו לכ – 15,000 ניצולי שואה הרשומים בעמותה. מהארגון נמסר כי מתנדבי ופעילי העמותה סייעו במהלך השנה לניצולי שואה ווטרנים ברחבי הארץ. לרגל יום הזיכרון יובאו עשרות ומאות ניצולי שואה באוטובוסים מכל רחבי הארץ לאירוע בחדרה וכן לבית שלום בקיסריה, שם הם ייהנו מארוחה מיוחדת, מופע מוסיקלי ומגוון פעילויות תרבות. במקביל ארגנה עמותת יד לעזרה ישראל אירועי תרבות וארוחות חמות לציון יום הזיכרון. במקביל במהלך השנה יתווספו פרויקטים שיכללו עזרה רפואית, כמו פרויקט אינטראקטיבי של בית שלום בקיסריה, מרפאות עיניים, חלוקת קביים, כסאות גלגלים, שוברי אוכל, בגדים, נעליים, רהיטים, טיולים ואירועי תרבות וסיוע לניצולי שואה וותיקי מלחמת העולם השנייה.

מהעמותה נמסר כי בשנת 2019 חולקו לניצולי שואה בישראל תלושי מזון בשווי של חצי מיליון ₪, חולקו 7,000 זוגות משקפי ראיה וקריאה לניצולי שואה ברחבי הארץ, חולקו 3,000 הליכונים, כסאות גלגלים וציוד עזר להליכה לניצולי שואה מבוגרים וסיעודיים. בחודשיים הקרובים יחולקו עוד אלפי משקפי ראיה ומאות מכשירים למדידת לחץ דם שיגיעו עם צוות מומחים מחו”ל.

לוק גשיורובסקי, מנהל עמותת יד עזרה לישראל, מסר כי למעלה מ 150 אלף ניצולי שואה חיים כיום בישראל ורבע מהם חיים מתחת לקו העוני. עמותת יד עזרה לישראל מסייעת במיוחד לאוכלוסיה זו שמרביתה, יוצאת מדינות מזרח אירופה במטרה לשפר את איכות חייהם ורווחתם ככל שניתן ולסייע להם בצרכיהם הבסיסיים כמו גם בקבלת מלוא זכויותיהם – מדגיש גשיורובסקי שמגלה כי היום, 75 שנה לסיום המלחמה, ממוצע גילם של ניצולי השואה הוא 83 שנים.

יו”ר ושותף מייסד של ארגון יד עזרה לישראל, אנדרי גשיורובסקי, מסר כי במסגרת היוזמה להנצחת השואה יופץ ויוקרן הסרט IZAK ברחבי הארץ וב – 180 מדינות ברחבי העולם. הסרט IZAKמספר את קורות חייו של ניצול השואה איזק גולדפינגר שנולד בנובי סאנץ בפולין ובהיותו בן 14 נאסר בשנת 1939 ובמשך 6 שנים שרד 11 מחנות עבודה כולל אושוויץ שם קיבל קעקוע שמספרו 161145 יחד מגיע לסכום של 18 שמשמעם “חי”. הקעקוע הפך ללוגו של הארגון ואיזק הפך לנשיא כבוד של הארגון שהוקם בשנת 2007 .
