Helping Hand Coalition, which aids thousands of survivors of the Holocaust living in Israel, hosted a level delegation from Nepal this week. The trip was part of the 75th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz, continuing its extensive activity of preserving Holocaust memory and distributing groceries to survivors. 

An impressive and honorable event took place at the initiative of the Global Forum of the Helping Hand Coalition, which hosted a high-level delegation of former MPs and public figures from Nepal. The delegation was headed by Kamal Prasad Chaulagain, former Minister of Labor and Transport in the Nepal government and senior adviser to a research institute. The Nepal delegation included 22 leaders — former government and parliament members, widows and victims of the 10-year violent conflict in Nepal, mayors, media representatives, and journalists.

The purpose of the visit, which took place from February 10th until the 16th, was to build and strengthen relations between Nepal and Israel, studying Israel’s history and marking the 75th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz. During their visit, each country had the opportunity to share stories about the people involved in the conflict. Members of the delegation visited the Knesset as well as agricultural collaborations, where they learned about Israel’s food production and processing, the milking industry, water and waste management, and the recently built cities.

Helping Hand Coalition’s Chairman, Andre Gasiorowski said that future projects in Israel and Nepal include partnering with sister cities, an Israeli agriculture and education project in Nepal, and creating a consultancy agency for future cooperation between Israel and Nepal. The trip was hosted and organized by Helping Hand Coalition, a network of international humanitarian organizations addressing the needs of the modern state and people of Israel. Since 2007, Helping Hand Coalition has provided continuous aid to nearly 80,000 victims of the Holocaust in over 70 cities throughout the country. The Coalition distributes food, clothing, and financial grants, along with coordinating social events, bringing joy to thousands of Israel’s survivors of the Holocaust, and providing much-needed relief to victims of terror attacks, natural disasters, and war.

Medical aid projects, eye clinics, distribution of medical equipment — crutches, wheelchairs, walkers, blood pressure measuring equipment — as well as distribution of sight and reading glasses, have been distributed to cities throughout Israel — including Jerusalem, Ashkelon, Acre, Netanya, Ofakim.

Luke Gasiorowski, director of Helping Hand Coalition for Israel, said that more than 150,000 survivors of the Holocaust now live in Israel, a quarter of them living below the poverty line. Helping Hand Coalition mostly supports this population, who came from Eastern European countries, by improving their quality of life and welfare as much as they can, along with assisting with their basic needs and helping them learn about their rights. Luke Gasiorowski said that today, 75 years after the war ended, the average age of the survivors is 83 years old.

 Helping Hand Coalition is an organization that is working to assist survivors of the Holocaust across the country through a variety of actions and measures. The organization’s operations allow survivors to enjoy hot meals, social gatherings, food distribution and coupons, documenting survivors’ memorials, initiating a bar mitzvah celebration for survivors of the Holocaust who did not celebrate it as a child, assisting and participating in a life parade, and “Individual Assistance Project” in the northern region, along with dozens of other projects.

Recently, the association decided to unveil its activities to enable more survivors of the Holocaust living across the country to enjoy its diverse services and to improve the quality of life of the survivors of their older age in their area of ​​residence throughout the country.

 ארגון יד לעזרה ישראל, המטפל באלפי ניצולי שואה, אירח השבוע משלחת רמת דרג מנפאל במסגרת ציון 75 שנה לשחרור אושוויץ וממשיך בפעילות ענפה בשימור זיכרון השואה ובחלוקת מצרכים לניצולים בשווי כולל של למעלה מ- 10 מיליון ₪.

אירוע מרשים ומכובד התקיים השבוע ביוזמת הפורום העולמי של ארגון “יד לעזרה ישראל” שאירחה משלחת רמת דרג של חברי פרלמנט לשעבר ואישי ציבור מנפאל. בראש המשלחת עמד כמאל פרסד חולאגאין,( Kamal Prasad Chaulagain ), שר העבודה והתחבורה לשעבר בממשלת נפאל ויועץ בכיר למכון מחקר. המשלחת מנפאל כללה 22 מנהיגים, חברי ממשלה ופרלמנט לשעבר, אלמנות וקורבנות מאבק העימות האלים בן עשר שנים בנפאל, ראשי ערים, נציגי תקשורת ועיתונאים.

מטרת הביקור שהתקיים בין ה – 10- 16 בפברואר הייתה לבנות ולחזק את קשרים בין נפאל לישראל, לימוד וציון אירועי  75 שנה לשחרור אושוויץ. במהלך הביקור התאפשר לכל מדינה לחלוק סיפורים על האנשים הנוגעים בסכסוך. חברי המשלחת ביקרו בכנסת וכן בשיתופי פעולה חקלאיים, שם למדו על ייצור ועיבוד המזון של ישראל, על ענף החליבה, על ניהול מים ופסולת ועל ארגון הערים שנבנה באחרונה.  יו”ר ושותף מייסד של ארגון יד עזרה לישראל, אנדרי גשיורובסקי, מסר כי פרויקטים עתידיים של ישראל ונפאל כוללים הפעלת שותפות לערים-אחיות, פרויקט חקלאות וחינוך ישראלי בנפאל ויצירת סוכנות ייעוץ לשיתוף פעולה עתידי בין ישראל לנפאל. הביקור אורגן ונערך עמותת יד עזרה לישראל, קואליציית ארגונים הומניטאריים בינלאומיים העוסקים בצרכי מדינת ועם ישראל. מאז 2007 הקואליציה מעניקה סיוע מתמשך לכמעט 80,000 ניצולי שואה בלמעלה מ- 70 ערים ברחבי הארץ. ארגון “יד לעזרה ישראל”  מחלק באמצעות מתנדביו במהלך השנה מוצרי צריכה, סלי מזון, ביגוד,  מתנות ותווי קניה בשווי של למעלה מ – 10 מיליון ₪ שיחולקו לכ – 15,000 ניצולי שואה הרשומים בעמותה. מהארגון נמסר כי מתנדבי ופעילי העמותה סייעו במהלך השנה לניצולי שואה ווטרנים ברחבי הארץ. לרגל יום הזיכרון הובאו עשרות ומאות ניצולי שואה באוטובוסים מכל רחבי הארץ לאירועים בבית שלום בקיסריה, שם נהינו מארוחות חמות ומגוון פעילויות תרבות. במקביל מתקיימים ברחבי הארץ פרויקטים של  עזרה רפואית, מרפאות עיניים, חלוקת ציוד רפואי כולל קביים, כסאות גלגלים, הליכונים, מכשירים למדידת לחץ דם  וכן חלוקה של  משקפי ראיה וקריאה בין היתר בערים ירושלים, אשקלון, עכו, נתניה, אופקים ועוד וכן חלוקת שוברי אוכל, בגדים, נעליים, רהיטים, טיולים ואירועי תרבות וסיוע לניצולי שואה וותיקי מלחמת העולם השנייה.

לוק גשיורובסקי, מנהל עמותת יד עזרה לישראל, מסר כי למעלה מ 150 אלף ניצולי שואה חיים כיום בישראל ורבע מהם חיים מתחת לקו העוני. עמותת יד עזרה לישראל מסייעת במיוחד לאוכלוסיה זו שמרביתה, יוצאת מדינות מזרח אירופה במטרה לשפר את איכות חייהם ורווחתם ככל שניתן ולסייע להם בצרכיהם הבסיסיים כמו גם בקבלת מלוא זכויותיהם – מדגיש גשיורובסקי שמגלה כי היום, 75 שנה לסיום המלחמה, ממוצע גילם של ניצולי השואה הוא 83 שנים.

לאחרונה החליטה העמותה לחשוף את פעילותה במטרה לאפשר לניצולי שואה נוספים החיים ברחבי הארץ ליהנות משרותיה המגוונים ובמטרה לשפר את איכות החיים של ניצולי השואה בגילם המבוגר באזור מגוריהם ברחבי הארץ.
